5 Different Valentines Dates for Couples...AND Singles

5 Different Valentines Dates for Couples...AND Singles

Whether 2015’s February 14th means a romantic candle lit dinner with your spouse or celebration of Single’s Awareness Day, conventional date ideas get old pretty quickly. Make this Valentine’s Day exceptionally special by trading in the bland dinner and a movie for one of these “out-of-the-box” ideas. Singles need not worry, there’s no discrimination on this list.

  1. Indoor Skydiving
This date is perfect for the timid thrill-seeker. Indoor skydiving creates the same free falling experiencing minus the 10,000 feet airplane jump. Vertical wind tunnels generate 1600 horse power from 4 powerful fans. The vertical tunnel is completely covered in wall cushioning for a safe floating experience. If you’re in the Houston area, check out iFly in the Memorial area.
  2. Game Night
Is there a rule that Valentine’s Day must exclude your friends? We don’t think so. Planning a fun game night for other couples (or singles) is the perfect all inclusive V-Day activity. Round up your favorite board games and stock up on some refreshments. This alternative “date” is even kid friendly.
  3. Rent a Car
What’s your dream car? Maybe it’s as exotic as a Lamborghini or as modest as a Volkswagen. Whatever your pick, rent the car of your dreams for a day. Make reservations at a restaurant an hour away. Take a mini joy ride while listening to your favorite tunes with the windows down. Since Valentine’s Day lands on a Saturday, no need to worry about pesky traffic.
  4. Draw Each Other
This is as intimate as it gets! Flex your creative muscle and create a portrait of your Valentine. Purchase blank canvases and other art materials from your nearest art supply store. If you’re uncomfortable playing someone’s muse opt to visit a scenic park and paint the landscape with your date.
*Unless you're a couple, you may want to refrain from this activity. This could get pretty weird with a 'friend'.*
  5. Swing Dancing
Get your finger waves and flapper dresses ready! Join other dancers as you learn the Lindy Hop and six-count swing on Sunday nights at the Eldorado Ballroom. Classes progress through the month, but each dance has a beginner class before it. Check out www.hsds.org for schedules, prices, and more. Enjoy with your valentines date or solo.
