A Spring Cleaning Cheat Sheet for Busy People

A Spring Cleaning Cheat Sheet for Busy People

When you're busy working, maintaining a social life, and maybe even taking care of kids, it's hard to imagine finding time to spring clean. But thankfully, spring cleaning does not have to take an entire weekend. With this spring cleaning cheat sheet, you can fit simple cleaning tasks in between your other obligations, completing them quickly and easily.

Clean your ceiling fan with a sock.

You'll be amazed at how much dust builds up on your ceiling fan. Luckily,  you can remove it in a minute or less when you put a sock on your hand, spray it with all-purpose cleaner, and then wipe the tops of the blades. Toss the sock, and the job is complete.

Use vinegar and water on a wide range of surfaces.

Instead of maintaining an array of cleaning products that you need to shuffle between, prepare a mixture of half vinegar and half water. It cuts grime, kills bacteria, and removes odors. Reach for it whenever you need to clean.

Deodorize your carpet with baking soda.

Instead of spending a whole day shampooing your carpet, just sprinkle it generously with baking soda. Let it sit for a few hours, and then vacuum it up. Your carpet won't be smelly any more, and little particles like pet hair will be loosened.

Maintain a "clutter box."

Put a box in the corner, and as you come across things you don't need, toss them into the box. When the box gets full, take it to the thrift store. This is so much more efficient than spending a whole day going through your items.

Take a few minutes to wash your windows.

Clean windows make your whole home look cleaner, so take an hour or two to wipe them clean using your vinegar and water mixture. If your windows tip inward so you can clean the outsides too, clean them.

Reach behind furniture with your vacuum wand.

Don't waste time moving your dressers and sofas. Put the wand attachment on your vacuum, scooch the furniture out from the wall by a few inches, and then reach along the wall with the wand attachment to suck up the dust.
